Meet the Founders
Lauren and Rachel Piskin make up the mother/daughter power duo that created ChaiseFitness. Their respective backgrounds in competitive figure skating and ballet are the roots of their lifelong passion for health and wellness.
Lauren has been serving Pilates to the Upper East Side for over 15 years with her original Pilates studio, PhysicalMind Studio and then with the opening of ChaiseFitness. She always wanted to “get Pilates off of its back and bring it into the modern upbeat vibe of New York City,” but it wasn’t until Rachel’s ballet career came to an end that she started developing a way to make that happen. Rachel was struggling to maintain the healthy lifestyle she always had from dance, so she and Lauren began to experiment and create a new type of fitness experience that eventually gave her an even stronger and healthier physique. ChaiseFitness and the Reinvention Method were born from Lauren’s professional experience and refined by Rachel’s personal journey to help everyone create long lean muscles, increase flexibility, and transform their bodies.

Lauren Piskin, M.F.A is the co-founder and owner of ChaiseFitness. She has been a name in the fitness industry for 30+ years, previously as a competitive figure skater, Olympic National Skaters trainer, and on-ice choreographer. After discovering Pilates as a way to enhance figure skating, Lauren became one of the first instructors to be certified in Pilates by the Physicalmind Institute. She taught Pilates professionally for 27 years, and was then propelled by her strong belief in living a healthy lifestyle to formulate the next big thing in fitness: ChaiseFitness’ Reinvention Method. She took the horizontal Pilates experience and made it vertical with a chair and overhead bungees. Lauren developed the instructor certification program, and she now works to create new and exciting ChaiseFitness programming. Regarded affectionately as the mother of ChaiseFitness, Lauren nurtures the Reinvention Method and teaches it to members of all ages.

Living a fit lifestyle was never a question for Rachel Piskin. She became a ballet star at just eight years old when she was cast as Marie in the New York City Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker. Rachel joined the New York City Ballet officially at 16 and worked alongside some of the industry’s most distinguished choreographers. After retiring from ballet at age 21, she had to reinvent her professional workout regimen and physique. Rachel gained her Pilates certification from the Physicalmind Institute and decided to work with her mother to develop the Reinvention Method. The technique helped her to rebuild her own body back to its fit, athletic shape, and Rachel now focuses her time and energy on teaching the Reinvention Method and developing new, effective ChaiseFitness classes. She also draws from her entrepreneurial spirit to oversee ChaiseFitness operations and develop new, effective classes.
